Southern Maryland Fall Events

Fall is the perfect time of year for picking the perfect pumpkins, wandering through an orchard or getting lost in a corn maze. Here are all the details about family friendly farms, festivals and fall events in Southern Maryland (Charles, Saint Mary’s and Calvert Counties)

CHARLES:


Sunflower Festival - September 3 & 4, 2022, 10 AM to 4 PM


Sunflower picking with the build-your-own bouquet station are included in the ticket price. Bring your own shears! Food will be available for purchase. (Please, no outside food) Leashed dogs are welcome.


$10.00 per person (Eventbrite will charge a fee per ticket.) Children 7 & under are FREE.

At the Festival, entry will cost $15.00 per person at the gate.

Charles County Fair - Thursday, September 15th thru Sunday, September 18th, 2022

Age 11 and over: $10.00

Age 10 and under: Free

4 Day Passes: $25.00

All School Children admitted FREE on, Friday

September 17th from 9:00am to 5:00pm

Tickets can be purchased at any gate or online!

Rocktoberfest - October 1, 2022


Rocktoberfest is an annual outdoor family fun live music and vendor event held in downtown La Plata on La Grange Avenue. Enjoy three stages with performances from talented local musicians, a headlining band, numerous street & food vendors, a kids zone, a beer truck, raffles, and 10+ hours of live music all day long. The foot traffic is in the thousands. We donate all proceeds of the event to the Charles County Board of Education's Music and Performing Arts programs.

Shlagel Farms - Open every Saturday and Sunday from 10am to 5pm


The admission fee is $9.00 per person 24 months and older. Pumpkins are an additional fee of .69 cents per pound when picked in the field.


CALVERT:


Calvert County Fair - Thursday, September 28th thru Sunday, October 2nd, 2022

Admission: Adults $10.00 (12 and up) - 11 and Under Free

Maryland Food Truck Festival - September 17th - 11 AM - 8 PM


Choose from more than 25 amazing food trucks offering a wide variety of cuisine. We have Italian, BBQ, Seafood, Pizza, Mexican, Caribbean, Soul Food, Creole, Desserts and more! This event is built for the whole family! Live music all day! Check out the best in regional Food Trucks, Shop in our Vendor Village, & check out the free Moon Bounce Obstacle Course, Moon Bounce Water Slide and more for the kids! Have them wear their suits under their outfits!

Horsmon Farm has been family owned for five generations; it has been a part of the Horseman family since 1925. The farm is currently owned by Cathy and JR Cosgrove. Cathy is from the Horsmon family and she and her husband enjoy continuing the Horsmon family tradition of farming. They love when visitors come to the farm and learn about agriculture as well as providing healthy foods for the community.

The Horsmon Farm is full of great family activities including a pumpkin patch, corn maze, farm animals, corn pit, wagon rides, playground, farm trail, and much more. Spider Hall Farm and Mrs. Moos Corner


Spider Hall Farm is located at 3915 Hallowing Point Road in Prince Frederick. It is a beloved local farm that also runs the Mrs. Moos Corner ice cream shop. Locals look forward to the fall happenings at the farm every year. Last year the fall activities were scaled back a little bit to smaller separate activities happening every week in October. SAINT MARY’S:


Saint Mary's Fair - Thursday, September 22nd thru Sunday, September 25th, 2022

Taste of Leonardtown Square - September 10th - 1 PM - 4 PM


Spend your afternoon in the heart of Downtown Leonardtown sampling the best dishes that our local restaurants have to offer. This family fun event will have a wide variety of food and drinks, kid friendly activities, and a classic car show.

Bowles Farm


Bowles Farm will be opening for fall visitors the weekend of September 24, 2022. Bowles Farm is the home of the largest corn maze in southern Maryland; it is open on Saturdays and Sundays through the fall season. In addition to the corn maze, you can visit the barn to see the animals, take a wagon ride, take the kids to the playground, watch the little ones enjoy a barrel ride, or enjoy some great food at the concessions and the cupcake shop. Forrest Hall Farm


Every year Forrest Hall Farm is the host of the most detailed and fun corn maze in southern Maryland. They change up the design every year so that repeat farm goers have a brand new challenge to overcome. It is a ton of fun to meander through a brand-new maze every year. The design for this year's maze has not been revealed yet but you can find more information on the Forest Hall Farm website. Tickets cost eight dollars per person and children three and under are free.
